Promise Christian University’s mission includes training its students how to go out into the world to spread the word of God as it is written in the Bible. It’s the commitment to or act of publicly preaching (ministry) of the Christian Gospel with the purpose of sharing the message and teachings of Jesus Christ.
According to the Gospel of Matthew (28:19), Jesus told his disciples, “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’”
Christian evangelization may be defined as the bringing of the gospel of Jesus Christ to bear in saving power upon the lives of people. Its purpose is to put men, women and children in touch with the living God who came in Jesus to seek and to save that which was lost.
Evangelism helps us maintain the gospel message as the engine of a growing life in Christ. It also deepens our understanding of the most fundamental truths of Scripture. Gospel conversations with non-Christians force us to better grasp the central, underpinning truths of God's Word.
Some Christians believe they should take on this role because they think that they can help people to discover their real purpose in life. While some evangelists tell people about God directly, others try to show God's love through their actions too - for example, missionaries spread the Christian message abroad, not necessarily only through preaching, but through their actions. Missionary work is to help the children of God fulfill a condition prescribed by our Savior and Redeemer. This is how Christianity as it is known today spread across the globe.
